Becoming a US citizen is so important to so many people for many different reasons. Many of the reasons include the peace, opportunity, and freedom. These are three very important and cherished things that the Americans enjoy very much. You can too.

One of the biggest things that Americans enjoy is the democratic choice. Americans get to vote in their leaders and they also vote for the laws to go into effect. They control how they live their lives by a popular vote and they are not dictated. There is a lot of violence around the world in many countries that takes place by the government officials, mafia, and other things. The violence has become a way of life for millions of people around the world. America has violence but the government focuses on fighting crime and not allowing it. You don’t have to worry about bombs going off in the middle of the night or trying to go to sleep over the sounds of gunfire. Your children are safes in their beds when they go to sleep at night.

Opportunity is the next primary reason that people want to become a US citizen. This is because Americans can enjoy any opportunity they want to. If you have always dreamed of owning your own business then you can in the states. You can have a seasonal business selling artificial Christmas trees and white Christmas trees. You can sell anything you want to. If you go online and sell lighted palm trees then you will have your own business with a fraction of a business’s costs. Anyone can own their own business in the states and there is no one threatening you to take half of your profits of your store will blow up. You are safe to make money as you please as long as you are not selling drugs or violating another person’s rights with your business.

The biggest reason that people want to come to the United States to become an American citizen is so they can enjoy the freedoms that other people enjoy. These freedoms are vast. People have the right to speak freely without going to jail. People can freely practice their own religions without being judged or beheaded. Everyone has a right to an education and you don’t have to be a certain race or gender. Everyone has a right to a roof over their heads and a bed to sleep in with food on the table every day. If you cannot afford these things then the government will give you money and a home to live in. These are only a few of the many freedoms that Americans can take advantage of when they live in the states. Becoming a citizen gives you these freedoms as well.

There are many reasons that people want to come to the United States and become a citizen. Many people who travel to the states for a vacation realize they never want to go home. The reasons people want to become a citizen include the freedoms of every day living, the opportunities, and the peace.

Ways to Become a US Citizen

Across the country every day, there are people working at offices, jewelry stores, call centers, or working building roads, farming the land, selling candles – all considering contacting US immigration in order to become US citizens. These workers often do not realize that there are not one but actually three ways to become a US citizen:

1) By being born in the US. If you were born in the US, even if your mother was in the country illegally, you automatically acquire US citizenship. The only exception to this rule is if one of your parents was a foreign diplomat at the time of your birth. If you were born in the US but left the country and did not get your citizenship papers, often proof of your birthplace is enough to secure citizenship for you.

2) By having a US citizen as a parent. If you were born outside of the US but at least one of your parents was a US citizen at the time of your birth, you automatically acquire US citizenship. Again, you may need to provide proof of your claim and apply in order to get your citizenship papers, but the process is usually quite simple.

3) Naturalization. If your parents were not US citizens and you were not born in the US, you can still acquire citizenship, if you are eligible. You may be eligible if you have lived in the US as a permanent resident for at least five years (without being absent for more than six months). You may also be eligible if you have been married to a US citizen for at least three years and have lived in the US for those years as a permanent resident. If you have served with the U.S. Armed Forces for at least three years or during World War I, World War II, Korea, Vietnam, or the Persian Gulf conflict, you may qualify for citizenship. If you were married to a U.S. citizen who died while on active duty service in the U.S. Armed Forces you may also qualify. It is important to keep in mind, too, that there are additional rules within these eligibility guidelines. Not everyone who has been married to a US citizen and has been living in the US for three years, for example, qualifies for citizenship.
